About Worldcoin

Worldcoin (WLD) is an ambitious cryptocurrency project co-founded by Sam Altman and Alex Blania. It aims to establish a global digital identity and financial network. The project uses the Orb, a biometric device designed to verify that each participant is a unique human—a concept known as Proof of Personhood. Users may receive WLD tokens after verifying their identity through an iris scan. Launched in the summer of 2023, WLD is intended to support governance within the World ID ecosystem, promote the fair distribution of resources, and help prepare society for a future in which artificial intelligence plays an increasingly prominent role.
