Ctrl Wallet users have less than a month to secure access to their digital assets after the company confirmed that the wallet will permanently discontinue its core services. Under the announced timeline, the application will continue operating normally until August 2, 2026, before switching to an export-only mode on August 3.

Users who rely on the mobile application or browser extension must either transfer their assets to another wallet or exchange or export their recovery phrase before the shutdown date. The announcement also outlines the staged removal of the wallet from app stores and warns users against fraudulent migration or airdrop claims that may emerge during the transition.

Wallet Services to End in Early August

Ctrl Wallet said all major wallet functions will remain available until August 2. During this period, users can continue sending and receiving assets, swapping tokens, interacting with decentralized applications, and exporting their recovery phrases.

The transition begins on July 7, when Ctrl Wallet is removed from the App Store, Google Play Store, and browser extension marketplaces. Although new downloads will no longer be available, users who already have the wallet installed can continue using it without changes until August 2.

Beginning August 3, the wallet will no longer support sending or receiving assets, token swaps, or dApp connections. At that stage, the only remaining function will be access to export the wallet’s recovery phrase.

Users Must Choose Between Two Migration Options

The company outlined two methods for retaining access to funds stored in Ctrl Wallet before the shutdown takes effect.

The first option is exporting the wallet’s 12-word or 24-word recovery phrase and importing it into another compatible wallet. The second option is manually transferring assets to another wallet address or to a centralized cryptocurrency exchange before August 3.

Ctrl Wallet identified users of both its mobile application and browser extension, as well as anyone holding funds, tokens, or NFTs in the wallet, as those who should complete one of the migration steps before the deadline.

Recovery Phrase Remains the Key to Asset Access

Users choosing the recovery phrase option are instructed to open the application, navigate to Settings, select Wallet Management, choose the wallet name, and then reveal the recovery phrase.

The company advised users to write the phrase down exactly as displayed and store the written copy securely. It also warned users not to share the phrase with anyone, to avoid taking screenshots, and not to save it as a plain text file on their devices because the phrase provides full access to the wallet.
