Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) said that scammers are using artificial intelligence to create fake photos of him and trying to deceive people on social media with this content. In a post on the X platform, CZ stated that one user was impersonating him by posing as “someone close to him” using AI-generated images.
According to the account CZ brought to attention, an X account with approximately 863,000 followers is using a photo of CZ from a BNB Chain event he previously attended in Korea as its profile banner. Furthermore, the scammers are reportedly sharing numerous AI-generated images that create the impression of CZ posing with various people.
CZ pointed out some details to identify the fake images. Zhao emphasized that he would not wear blue or purple clothing, and noted that the resolution of the people in the shared images was inconsistent, a common sign in AI-generated content. CZ also suggested that the images in question may have been derived from a real photo of himself with Aster CEO Leonard.
CZ warned the community against fraudulent attempts, emphasizing that users should be wary of such accounts. Zhao added that the Binance team is always open to honest and constructive feedback.
