According to a Monday report by Thai newspaper Khaosod, five armed robbers targeted three cryptocurrency traders who had arranged to meet in a parking lot at a shopping mall in Bangkok’s Ladprao district earlier today.

The victims intended to exchange 3.4 million baht in cash (roughly $100,000 at the current exchange rate) for crypto. However, they were ambushed by the criminals.

The suspects, who were armed with guns and knives, confronted the victims as soon as they began conducting the transaction.

The robbers grabbed a bag containing the 3.4 million baht cash and fled the scene in a gray Honda Civic.

The police are currently attempting to locate the suspects.

As reported by U.Today, 2025 is on track to be the most dangerous year for cryptocurrency holders based on the number of physical attacks.

In May, masked men attempted to kidnap the daughter and grandson of a French crypto CEO in Paris. David Balland, co-founder of hardware wallet startup Ledger, was kidnapped in central France and then rescued by authorities in January.
