The Wyoming Stable Token Commission, a public issuer of digital dollars, has moved the Frontier Stable Token (FRNT) from LayerZero to Chainlink CCIP. The new system will serve as the token’s exclusive cross-chain infrastructure under a multi-year agreement. Chainlink is a blockchain infrastructure provider for cross-chain data and transfers.
FRNT is the first fiat-backed stable token issued by a U.S. public entity. It is designed for payments, settlements, and other public-sector and commercial uses. The token is currently available on Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Ethereum, Hedera, Optimism, Polygon and Solana.
The Commission initially used LayerZero’s omnichain fungible token standard to deploy FRNT across multiple networks. It later decided to fully deprecate that implementation after reviewing LayerZero’s disclosure practices and operational security.
Wyoming has promoted a multi-chain approach to its stable token since 2023. The latest move keeps FRNT available across several public blockchains while replacing the underlying cross-chain infrastructure. The Commission said the change is intended to provide stronger operational security as the state expands its use of digital assets.
