Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has released its 45th Proof of Reserves report, covering data from August 1st. The report shares updated information on the major crypto assets held by users on the exchange, showing an increase in Bitcoin balances and a decrease in Ethereum and Tether balances.
According to the data released, the total Bitcoin ($BTC) holdings of Binance users have reached approximately 657,000 $BTC. This figure represents a 2.55% increase compared to the previous report dated July 1st. Over the past month, users’ Bitcoin balances on the exchange have increased by approximately 16,349 $BTC. This increase demonstrates continued investor interest in Bitcoin and the strong demand for the market’s largest cryptocurrency.
On the other hand, a decrease was recorded in users’ Ethereum ($ETH) balances. According to the report, the total $ETH holdings on Binance are approximately 3.98 million $ETH, a decrease of 2.57 percent compared to the previous period. Thus, users experienced a decline of approximately 105,154 $ETH in their Ethereum balances.
Similarly, Tether ($USDT), the world’s largest stablecoin, also saw a decrease in user balances. Binance users’ total $USDT holdings were reported at approximately 32.9 billion $USDT, a 2.57% decrease compared to the previous report. This represents a reduction of approximately $870 million in $USDT balances on the exchange.
Proof-of-Reserve reports, aimed at increasing transparency in the cryptocurrency sector, are closely watched as they show whether exchanges are backing user assets one-to-one. Binance’s latest report indicates a trend towards Bitcoin in user preferences, while the decline in Ethereum and stablecoin assets is seen as a reflection of the changing market dynamics.
