Anthropic reaffirmed that its flagship assistant, Claude, will remain ad-free, framing the stance as integral to user trust and long-form usefulness, even as rival OpenAI recently signaled it is exploring advertising across its ChatGPT products.
The company reinforced that message with a Super Bowl advertisement that mocked the idea of ads appearing inside AI conversations, positioning Claude as a commercial-free alternative.

In an accompanying blog post, Anthropic said advertising would be incompatible with Claude’s goal of being a helpful tool for deep thinking and sensitive tasks. The company stated users will not see sponsored links adjacent to conversations, and Claude’s responses will not be influenced by advertisers.
“Claude should act unambiguously in our users’ interests,” the company said, emphasizing this applies particularly to work, complex reasoning, and personal topics.
OpenAI has confirmed it will begin testing ads in ChatGPT, with placements expected for free and Go-tier users in the US. Premium tiers are slated to remain ad-free, and OpenAI says ads will be clearly labeled and separated from organic responses.
