Polymarket has hired veteran executive Warren Jenson, who previously served as CFO at Amazon as its first-ever chief financial officer.

Jenson will report to Polymarket founder and CEO Shayne Coplan — who called him a “true legend” in a post on X — and will oversee the company’s finance organization, financial and capital strategy and long-term planning, , the company said on Thursday.

The appointment marks Polymarket’s first CFO as the firm continues to grow in hopes to scale its Commodity Futures Trading Commission-regulated U.S. exchange while continuing to expand its global platform. The firm had been largely shut out of the U.S. since a 2022 settlement with the CFTC required it to block American users.

"Polymarket created a massive new global market category," Jenson said in a statement. "I'm joining Shayne and the leadership team to put the capital strategy and operating discipline in place to move quickly at scale and continue to push the frontier of this industry."

Polymarket lets users trade on the outcomes of future events using USDC, with trades recorded and settled on the Polygon (POL) blockchain. The platform broke into the mainstream during the 2024 U.S. presidential election, when its election markets drew widespread attention. Polymarket has since moved well beyond politics, pushing deeper into sports and putting it in more direct competition with established betting platforms such as DraftKings and FanDuel.

“Warren has led finance at some of the most consequential companies in the world, and his experience will be critical to everything we build from here,” Coplan said.

Jenson also served as president and CFO at Nielsen, where his responsibilities included finance, strategy, technology and corporate development. Before that, he was president of LiveRamp and oversaw its finance operations and international expansion. He currently sits on the board of Ripple, Dropbox and DigitalOcean.
