According to The Wall Street Journal, Binance founder and former CEO Changpeng Zhao returned to the US for the first time since his release in 2024. Zhao attended a crypto summit organized by the Trump family-backed World Liberty Financial at Mar-a-Lago in Florida in February 2026.
According to the report, Zhao met with Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. at the event. Zhao later stated in a post on the X platform that he “learned a lot” at the event.
The summit was also attended by prominent figures from the finance and crypto world. Attendees included David Solomon, New York Stock Exchange President Lynn Martin, investor Kevin O’Leary, Brian Armstrong, Senator Bernie Moreno, and artist Nicki Minaj.
Zhao’s return to the US is seen as a significant development following the legal challenges Binance has faced in recent years. The summit takes place at a time when the crypto sector’s engagement with the traditional financial and political worlds is strengthening.
