Layer 2 blockchain solution Stacks announced on May 24 that it had resumed block production after fixing an abnormal behavior occurring in the stacks-node mempool synchronization logic. All node operators, especially miners and signers, were advised to upgrade their nodes to version 3.1.0.0.11.
A warning was posted on the X social network about further “periodic degradation” of block production until all miners and signers complete the upgrade. The announcement to upgrade nodes to the latest version came just hours after core developers claimed to have identified the cause.
Preliminary results suggest that the latest update is compatible with chainstate directories from 3.x.x.x.x. The release of the latest update is expected to finally resolve the issue that Stacks initially acknowledged on April 18.
