In the rapidly evolving Web3 landscape, Manta Network's achievements have been making waves. Already in the list of Ethereum's Top 20 layer-2 networks, Manta Network recently added another feather to its cap: the strategic decision to migrate its Manta Pacific ecosystem from Optimism’s OP stack to Polygon CDK. This move will position Manta Pacific as a zkEVM validium, fortifying its credentials in the world of decentralized apps.

Why Manta's Move Matters

The Mainnet Alpha launch earlier this summer was pivotal for Manta Pacific. It set the foundation for it to become the leading hub for zero-knowledge (ZK) applications in the world of Web3. The incorporation of the first generation of Universal Circuits was a game-changer. These circuits provide a versatile library for dApp development, making the creation process smoother for developers.

By transitioning to Polygon's Chain Development Kit (CDK), Manta Pacific is not merely changing tools; it's embracing a future-focused framework. Polygon CDK has proven its mettle in L2 design and execution, outpacing the capabilities of the OP Stack.

Key Features:

Speed and Security: At its core, Manta Pacific is a ZK dApp hub. This means that the security and speed of transactions are paramount. ZK proofs, integral to the platform, ensure that finality can be achieved in mere minutes or seconds, a dramatic improvement over traditional waiting times. With Polygon CDK, the reliance is on mathematical certainty over the vagueness of socio-economic incentives.
Flexibility and Customization: Manta Pacific thrives on its uniqueness. It requires a system that's both modular and sovereign, able to cater to the distinct demands of a ZK dApp ecosystem. Polygon CDK shines in this aspect, offering both short-term configurability and long-term adaptability.
Interoperability: With the new framework, Manta Pacific will seamlessly tap into the blockspace and liquidity of chains developed with Polygon CDK. This ensures trustless ZK bridges to Ethereum and lays the foundation for future atomic L2-to-L2 transactions.

“The transition to zkEVM is a necessity for Manta Pacific to continue providing the best-in-class experience for developers and users,” said Victor Ji, co-founder of Manta Network. “Polygon CDK enables us to transition quickly and smoothly using a proven, robust system for deploying zkEVMs.”

The Vision Forward

For Manta Pacific, this move is about more than just tech upgrades. It's about realizing a vision: creating a powerful ZK dApp ecosystem that's accessible and efficient. The integration of Universal Circuits SDK will redefine how ZK dApps are developed, removing the complexity of cryptography from the equation.
“ZK knows ZK,” said Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon.
“Manta Pacific is a unique hub of ZK-centered dApps and well-positioned to join an expanding Polygon ZK-powered L2 ecosystem. The network effects are undeniable and growing stronger everyday, meaning expanded access to unified blockspace," added Sandeep.

In the coming weeks, further plans will be revealed, including gas fee reduction strategies and the specifics of the full mainnet launch.

About Polygon Labs

Polygon Labs develops Ethereum scaling solutions for Polygon protocols. Polygon Labs engages with other ecosystem developers to help make available scalable, affordable, secure and sustainable blockchain infrastructure for Web3. Polygon Labs has initially developed a growing suite of protocols for developers to gain easy access to major scaling solutions, including Layer 2s (zero-knowledge rollups), sidechains, app-specific chains and data availability protocols.

Scaling solutions that Polygon Labs initially developed have seen widespread adoption with tens of thousands of decentralized apps, unique addresses exceeding 350 million, 1.6 million smart contracts created and 3 billion total transactions processed since inception. The existing Polygon network is home for some of the biggest Web3 projects, such as Aave, Uniswap, and OpenSea, and well-known enterprises, including Robinhood, Stripe and Adobe. Polygon Labs is carbon neutral with the goal of leading Web3 in becoming carbon negative.
