Bitcoin $BTC$79,618.56 is once again trading at a premium on Coinbase relative to Binance, suggesting comparatively stronger demand on the Nasdaq-listed U.S. exchange.
The gap between bitcoin's prices on two exchanges, measured by the so-called Coinbase Premium indicator, flipped positive on Friday, the first such instance since May, according to data source Coinglass.
The positive turn follows $BTC's recent steep rise from roughly $63,000 to over $80,000 and renewed uptake in U.S.-listed spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds, many of which use Coinbase as a custodian.
These ETFs, led by BlackRock's IBIT, have pulled in $3.51 billion in investor funds, the highest tally since October 2025, according to data from SoSoValue.
The Coinbase Premium is not just another market indicator. Historically, a sustained premium, signaling stronger demand on Nasdaq-listed Coinbase relative to offshore global giant Binance, has been a recurring feature of bitcoin bull runs.
The latest positive turn, therefore, will likely need to persist if $BTC is to extend its recent advance and break through critical resistance levels, such as the 50-week simple moving average, currently near $81,000. Analysts have identified that line as the final major barrier that must be cleared before bulls can claim a decisive victory.
