The $BCH price prediction turns sharply bullish after price ripped through a multi-month downtrend in a single session, confirming August as Bitcoin Cash’s strongest month in over two years. The move comes alongside a wave of ecosystem news around payments and infrastructure that gives the rally more than just a technical story behind it.
Bitcoin Cash Price Analysis: Will $BCH Price Go Up After Its 17% Breakout Candle?
$BCH surged from $222.95 to a high of $269.16 on August 21, settling at $261.14, a single day gain of 17.12%. The move cleared resistance near $237 to $259 that had capped every bounce since early July, and pushed price back above the 100-day EMA at $259.49 for the first time since May.
That’s a big shift after three months of steady decline, with the 20-day EMA at $216.29 and 50-day EMA at $223.00 both sitting well below today’s close. The Bollinger Bands, a volatility gauge that widens when price makes a big move, show $BCH breaking clean through both the upper band at $237.66 and the middle band at $213.75, confirming this is a real expansion in volatility rather than a small blip. The 200-day EMA at $329.24 is the next major target, still about 26% above current price.

Bitcoin Cash News: August Becomes Best Month Since Mid-2023
Bitcoin Cash is up more than 25% for August with over a week still left in the month, already making it the strongest single month for $BCH since a 170.9% surge in June 2023, according to monthly return data. The move follows a rough start to the year, with $BCH down in five of the first six months of 2026, including a 34.2% drop in June alone.
The turnaround is notable given the token’s typical seasonal pattern. Looking at data going back to 2017, August has actually been one of $BCH’s weaker months on average, with a median return of -11.9% across prior years. This year is running well against that historical trend.
| Month | 2026 Return | Historical Average | Historical Median |
| June | -34.2% | +2.85% | -13.5% |
| July | +5.14% | +2.12% | +5.41% |
| August (so far) | +25.4%+ | +3.03% | -11.9% |
Bitcoin Cash News: Paytaca Launches Self-Custodial Payment Card

Payment app Paytaca launched a self-custodial $BCH payment card at the Cash 3.0 Conference in Cebu City in early August. The card runs on Bitcoin Cash smart contracts and uses signed-tap authentication to verify transactions. The key feature is custody: holders can spend $BCH directly from the card while keeping control of their funds themselves, unlike most crypto debit cards that require handing coins over to a custodian first.
The card launch was one of several updates Bitcoin Cash shared in its weekly community roundup in late July:
- Futurist Conference debut — $BCH made its first appearance at the event, showcasing CashTokens and smart contract features
- BTC++ presentation — A talk on $BCH covenant technology, a way to add spending rules to transactions, delivered to a Bitcoin-focused audience
- Blitz FPGA progress — A hardware project aimed at processing more than 300,000 signature verifications per second
Availability alone doesn’t confirm real usage though. Whether the payment card actually gets used for everyday spending will depend on adoption in the weeks and months following launch, not just the rollout itself.

Bitcoin Cash Derivatives: Trading Surges as Shorts Get Caught Out
Bitcoin Cash’s derivatives volume nearly doubled over the past 24 hours, jumping 97.81% to $806.02M, as traders rushed to react to the breakout. Open interest, the total money tied up in open positions, climbed 37.83% to $511.59M, meaning a lot of that fresh trading is staying open rather than closing out fast.
Traders have clearly turned bullish. Binance shows 1.56 long positions for every short, and OKX shows 1.8, so far more people are now betting on $BCH going up than down.
| Metric | Value | What it shows |
| Derivatives volume (24h) | $806.02M, up 97.81% | Trading activity nearly doubled |
| Open interest | $511.59M, up 37.83% | New positions are sticking around |
| Binance long/short ratio | 1.5648 | More bets on further upside |
| OKX long/short ratio | 1.8 | Even stronger bullish lean |
That bullish shift shows up clearly in liquidations, which happen when a leveraged bet gets forced closed after price moves the wrong way. Short sellers took the brunt of it, losing $951.03K of the $1.36M wiped out over the past 24 hours, while longs lost just $407.37K. Sellers kept getting caught out through the day, not just in one quick spike.
Spot buying backs up the same story. Net inflow into spot exchanges hit $5.52M on August 21, one of the biggest single-day inflows all year after months of money mostly flowing out, a sign real buyers are behind this move too, not just leveraged traders.
$BCH Price Prediction: Upside and Downside Targets
Bullish Case, Target: $329.24 (200-day EMA)
$BCH holds above the reclaimed 100-day EMA at $259.49 and continues building on today’s breakout candle. Continued momentum from the short squeeze, growing spot inflows, and real-world adoption news around the Paytaca payment card all support the case for follow through. A sustained push keeps August’s strong seasonal performance intact and opens the path toward the 200-day EMA at $329.24.
Bearish Case, Risk Level: $223.00 (50-day EMA)
$BCH fails to hold today’s gains, and profit-taking sets in after the sharp 17% move, a common pattern following single-day breakout candles this large. Price falls back below the 100-day EMA at $259.49 and the Bollinger upper band at $237.66, pulling back toward the 50-day EMA at $223.00 as the next level bulls would need to defend to keep the broader August rally intact.
