Will Q3 Finally Change NEAR Price Trend?

The $NEAR price hasn’t enjoyed the same momentum as its ecosystem. After peaking at $3.05 in early June, the token slipped below $2.00 by late July, reflecting broader crypto market weakness rather than a lack of protocol development. As August approaches, the market remains cautious, with downside pressure still dominating sentiment.

That’s the frustrating part for long-term holders. The token has weakened, but the network itself appears to be moving in the opposite direction.

Infrastructure Finally Starts Showing Results

According to Nansen, $NEAR Protocol entered Q2 2026 with most of its core infrastructure already in place. The bigger milestone wasn’t building new technology but it was seeing that infrastructure begin generating measurable usage, privacy adoption, and protocol revenue.

Dynamic resharding has moved the network closer to fully elastic execution by automatically splitting congested shards and merging underused ones without governance intervention. Meanwhile, the upcoming SPICE upgrade aims for 200ms block times, sub-second finality, and parallel execution, a design intended to support AI-driven workloads requiring continuous settlement.

Privacy And Distribution Continue Expanding

Privacy has also become a growing focus. Nansen reported that Confidential Intents TVL exceeded $30 million during Q2, while 42% of Near.com swap volume was executed privately by default. Distribution expanded as well, with SimpleSwap integrating $NEAR Intents across a platform serving 10 million users and over 2,800 assets, while Ledger added Intents-powered swaps across more than 30 chains.

Usage Remains Active Despite Weak Token Performance

On-chain activity remained relatively stable throughout the quarter. Nansen highlighted approximately 854,000 daily transactions, around 121,000 daily active addresses, more than 1 million Tether transactions, while HOT Wallet led transaction activity and Ref Finance remained a significant DeFi contributor.

For now, the $NEAR price continues responding more to broader crypto market sentiment than ecosystem progress. Still, Q3 could become an important test as the protocol attempts to convert its scaling, privacy, and cross-chain infrastructure into stronger revenue generation.
